Rovinj is a beautiful little Adriatic town located on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. It’s an easy day-trip from various towns in Italy, including Venice, but is also a convenient base from which to explore Istria. As part of the Venetian Republic for over 500 years, one shouldn’t be surprised to notice a strong Italian influence in the architecture as well as in the local cuisine. Istrians are quite proud of their wines, olive oils and truffles. Despite its reputation as a popular tourist destination, Rovinj is still a very traditional and active fishing port.
